Tres
Purchase the Cuban Tres Chord and Scale book below. It is sometimes referred to as the Cuban Tres Guitar, Cuban Tres and Tres Cubano. It consists of three sets of two strings (or courses) either tuned in unison or in octaves. While most tres guitars are smaller than an average guitar, some tres guitars are converted from regular guitars without much difficulty. Smaller tres guitars tend to be tuned to an open D chord (A,D & F#) while others may be tuned to a C chord (G,C &E). One of the things that makes the Tres guitar so interesting sounding is that the two strings on top (tuned in octaves) are higher than the two strings on the bottom (also tuned in octaves). The two strings in the middle are usually in unison. This give the arpeggio played on the Tres a sort of backward sound that is distinctive to the Cuban Son Style. It is said that the first Cuban Tres Guitars were made by Cuban Farmers (Guajiros) and that Cuban Son Style evolved from Spanish Music with a bit of African Flavor. The Cuban Tres Guitar has been growing in popularity all over the world ever since the release of the Buena Vista Social Club. The Cuban Tres Guitar with its octave strings has a sound that is loud and clear! Regular acoustic guitars can not compete. Great for Arpeggios and a Super Lead Instrument! Be the first in your area to break into this wonderful sound. Cuban Tres Chord and Scale Book
